MITAU (Latvia): 10 kopeck brown & blue, large margins, tied by clear pre-philatelic single line "MITAVA" to entire letter to Moscow, with reverse side arrival mark of March 1858. The stamp tiny penstroke at left; some minor ageing and small part of backflap restored, still very fine and rare; most likely the finest of 4 covers recorded with this cancellation. MOSCOW: 10 kopeck brown & blue, nice large even margins, tied by dotted numeral "2" to letter sheet with reverse side clear boxed dispatch mark "MOSCOW 22 APRIL 1858", to Warsaw with red arrival mark (small part offset on front). A very fine and rare cover; just 3 No.1 entires have been recorded with this cancellation. Certificates Buchsbayew and Mandrovskiy (each 2019)

RIGA (Latvia): 10 kopeck brown and blue, horizontal pair with good to large margins, tied by pen crosses to letter sheet to Pernau with reverse side dispatch mark "RIGA 10 FEB. 1858" and bilingual arrival mark. The right stamp with very minor and unobtrusive diagonal bend, still very fine and most attractive. An extremely rare franking. Certificates Mikulski (1995) and Citerne BPP (2026)

Some very minor toning, otherwise very fine. A very rare and attractive No.1-usage from a tiny village.  Certificate Buchsbayew (2014)

KNIEP/TAUROGGEN", to Riga, with arrival mark. Supposed to origin from (most likely) German soil and forwarded. Just four similar entires with the Kniep handstamp have been recorded.
