BAZIM ADMINISTRATION DES PAQUEBOTS A VAPEUR FRANCAIS-MARSEILLE” in blue, red oval “V.P.M.” (Via Particolare Marittima) alongside, rated ‘$’ decimes, carried by ‘Ville de Marseille’, aarival mark on reverse, tiny file fold, otherwise very fine

1849, Ceres 10 c. brown, fresh colour and close to good margins, used, fine, sign. Brun

1849, Ceres 15 c. green, fresh colour, wide margins all around, used with diamond grid cancel, tiny thin at center, otherwise fine

1849, Ceres 25 c. blue, short “N” in FRANC, margin closed at lower left and tiny gum toned, unused regummed, faults (creasing, small paper faults), otherwise clear to wide margins and nice deep colour, a rare stamp

1849, Ceres 40 c. vermilion, fresh colour and good margins, cancelled PC ‘455’, horizontal crease, still fine, signed Calves

1852, REPUB.FRANC. 10 c. bistre, good to large margins, tied by clear star cancel to entire printed matter (slight creasing at right), very fine and fresh, signed Goebel and Scheller

1869, Napoleon 40 c. orange two pairs (perforation significantly shifted), and 80 c. carmine, performing 240 c. rate, tied to envelope by Paris Star “2” cancellation, PD and PARIS 27/AVR/69 cds. in black alongside, addressed to New York with arrival mark New York in red and “9” for taxe on front, file fold and tiny toned, otherwise fine and attractive.

1874/75, Two envelopes to Argentina, Ceres 30 c. brown and 80 c. carmine on rose, each thick numerals, pairs in combination with 40 c. orange, tied by ´2240´ lozenge cancels with matching ´Marseilles´ origin cds., red boxed P.P.alongside, Bordeaux transit cds. on reverse, one endorsed ‘Steamer Niger’ and blue crayon to Buenos Aires. Matching envelopes showing 200 c. and 100 c. rates with overseas destinations. Fine appearance.

1920-50, Lot Preobliteres, mint never hinged/unused stamps including Yv.47 (signed Roig no gum), 65-68, a.o. few no gum, otherwise fine

margins, tied to cover by numeral ´2240´ lozenge of dots cancel and commercial handstamp Giraud Freres Marseille, ms. 'par Vapor Baciocen', latter obliterated by Marseille 4/9 (1871)

1855/83, 5 envelopes bearing Ceres and Napoleon issues and two ‘renseignements fournis au bureau’, mainly fine.

1899, Registered wrapper and complete document, local used from Baume Les Dames Doubs to Baume, franked with horizontal pair Allegorique 15 c. in combination with 10 c. black lilac, fold through, all clear cancelled, with corresponding official Tribunal 1er Instance imprint seal and registered “R” handstamp, fine
