1858, British Protectorate 1815-1864: Folded envelope from CORFU 18/MAG with hand-stamp town cachet, endorsed ‘via Trieste’ to England, charged ´8´ and large boxed "6¼" (silver-groschen) in blue applied at Trieste (Van Der Linden fig. 3092) alongside, additional ms. taxe marks, on reverse PLYMOUTH A MY/25/58 arrival mark, usual file fold and tiny border crease, scarce and attractive!

1886, 20 para black on rose postal stationery card answering part used uprated with 1 pia. blue, cancelled with clear "CONSTANTINOPLE-GALATA DEPART 2/JUILLET/1886" ds., violet Hotel de Byzance ds. alongside, addressed to ‘Victoria Club Pietermaritzburg Natal L'Afrique du Sud’, red crayon “20cts”, transit mark NEW YORK PAID ALL JUL/18/86 and MISSENT TO NEW YORK JUL/21/86 on front. Postcards were not permitted to be sent to South Africa, hence the red London instruction twoliner "POST CARDS TO THIS ADRESS CANNOT BE FORWARDED" in red was stamped on the front, arrival mark "CONSTANTINOPLE-GALATA ARRIVEE 5/AOUT/1886" on reverse,vertical fold, otherwise fine. A very scarce route and destination!

1901/02, OVERLAND MAIL & SHIP MAIL: two Turkey postal stationery cards cancelled DIARBEKIR TURQUIE following different routes to Karnal India. First overland from 11.1.01 with turkish transit mark BAGDAD 27.1.01, British P.O. BAGDAD 20.JAN.01 and arrival mark KARNAL 28 FE 01. The second written 11 month later from 21.DEC 1901, transit marks Stamboul 26.12.01, ALEXANDRIE 30.12.01, SEA POST OFFICE 5.JAN.02 and arrival mark KARNAL 12 JA 02. Both written by an Armenian to the same address in Karnal Panjab. A very interesting corrosponding pair and scarce postal history.

1939 (Aug 10): Crash Mail cover and content addressed from Bootle/Liverpool to St.Gallen, carried on flight from London to Zurich that crashed at Luxeuil (Haute Saône), the envelope singed by fire. The pilot, Capt. Scott landed safely and 9 passengers escaped, but the Lockheed L-14 plane caught fire and was destroyed, only part of the mail was salvaged. The letter inside was written in Sydney N.S.W. with interesting text in german about pre-war time and economics in Australia. (Nierinck 390811a)
