BRIT. A CALAIS", taxed with "17" decimes on arrival; small faults, very scarce (Scott 7, 11)

1853, 3 c. dull-red (small internal tear at left) tied by clear "NEW-YORK JUN 8" to decorative advertising envelope of a mackerel dealer; certificate PF

3 c. dull-red, 2 single copies with manuscript cancellation and tied by red French transit mark to envelope with adjacent red "NEW YORK BR. PKT. NOV 30" (1855) to Switzerland, taxed on arrival; a fine and scarce transatlantic usage

3 c. brownish-carmine, tied by blue "CHARLESTON PAID APR 12" to small envelope with combination franking Honour's City Post 2 c. black on bluish with variety "Cens" with manuscript cancellation (stamp lifted for inspection and replaced by hinge); a fine and rare combination cover (Scott 11+4LB8b) Provenance: Alfred Caspary (1957)

"NEW YORK AUG 30" in combination with Swarts' City Dispatch 1 c. red, used with cork cancel, on cover to Quebec, Canada, treated as unpaid and taxed in manuscript "10" (US-rate to Canada) with adjacent handstamp "6" (pence due); a fine and interesting cover, certificate PF (1999) (Scott 11+136L9)

3 c. dull-red with cds. "NEW YORK FEB 13 1857" tied to envelope with combination franking Swarts' City Dispatch Post 1849/53, 1 c. red, tied by black marking, to Connecticut; a fine combination cover, certificates PF (1976 and 1999) (Scott 11+136L9)

3 c. dull-red in combination with Swart's City Dispatch Post 1849/53, 1 c. red on bluish, both tied by cds. "NEW-YORK OCT 16" to small embossed lady's cover to Ulster County; 3 c. small faults, still fine and attractive (Scott 11+136L11)

3 c. dull-red with 1857, 1 c. blue, type V, 2 single copies, as additional franking on postal stationery envelope 10 c. green from "SAN FRANCISCO APR 20 1858" to France with adjacent red "SHORT PAID" and taxed with "16" decimes on arrival; a fine and attractive envelope, certificate PF (1999) (Scott 11, 24, U16)

1851, 12 c. black, horizontal strip of 4, the right stamp slightly touched at right, otherwise good to enormous margins with part of 4 adjoining stamps at top, used with red grid on envelope with adjacent red "NEW YORK OCT 29 / 6" to Dublin, Ireland, showing on front red "AMERICA / LIVERPOOL PAID"; the cover lightly cleaned and slightly repaired at left and bottom; very attractive, certificates PF and RPS
