1911, "HODEIDA 3 - 10/12/11" bilingual turkish arrival mark on french domestic letter with 10 c brownish-red, forwarded from Versailles to Yemen, ms. "via aden" in blue and ADEN transit mark on back, slight traces of carriage. Very extraordinary "incoming mail" without further tax information, fine and unusual.

1915, US 2 c. red postal stationery envelope used uprated and registered from "CHATHAM N.J. SEP/2/1915" addressed to American Mission in "Adana Syria", transit New York "Sep/29/1915", redirected via "BEYROUTH 5 - 16/11/15" and "Istanbul 7/12/15", retour to US with several arrival marks in January 1916. At left unrecorded censor label "BEYRUT POSTAHANESI" (Beyrouth Post Office), crescent and star military censor mark "BEYRUT ASKERI SANSÜR HEYETI" and turkish ms. "iyade" (retour) and "Amerikaya" (to US) on front. A unique censor cover and showpiece for a Lebanon and Turkey postal history collection

1897, Sanjak of Djebel Lübnan: Turkey postal stationery card 20 pa. dull claret on buff, cancelled by bilingual "BAABDA 27/5/97" circular datestamp (Coles & Walker unlisted, isfila fig. 2 - rated 'RRR'), written in Deir-El-Kamar (Liban/Syrie), transit mark CONSTANTINOPLE GALATA 4/JUIN 97 and on reverse arrival mark PARIS 8/Juin 97. Superb and very rare, only three recorded.

1915, Sanjak of Djebel Lübnan: Turkey postal stationery envelope 1 pia. blue, cancelled by bilingual octogonal “ALIE LIBAN 29.1.5” datestamp (Coles & Walker no.49, rated 'RR'), addressed to Damas, some crease and flaw at right, otherwise fine and scarce, less than ten recorded.

Beirut Hamidiye Square Office: Turkey pair 10 pa. green tied to cover 1900 from Hamidiye Square Post Office in Beirut to Constantinople, cancelled by bold strike of circular "BEIRUT'TA HAMIDIYE POSTA SHUBESI / 306" handstamp in blueish-grey (Coles & Walker fig. 39, isfila fig. 1 rated 'RR'), with Beyrouth cds. alongside, on reverse Dersaadet and Beshiktash arrival marks, small part of flap missing, otherwise very fine. An exceptional strike. Note: Hamidiye Square was formerly known as Burj Square, it was re-named in 1894 in honour of Sultan Abdul Hamid.

1879, Turkey 1 Pia. yellow pair (1875 issue), one diagonally bisect tied by "POSTE EGIZIANE SUEZ 1/MAI/79" blue cds. to piece at arrival. J.v. Uexkull writes in his book "The postal history of Saudi Arabia" : "Sometimes mail from Jeddah was posted on board the steamer to Suez without going throuh the Jeddah Post Office. Such items were either cancelled in ink on board the steamer and then postmarked in Suez or left uncancelled" (page 37), fine and fresh, a unique bisect usage of an ottoman Duloz issue in Saudi Arabia!

A very scarce Saudi Arabia forerunner

1919, “DEIR ATTIE (NEBIK) 26.11.19” octogonal late used Turkey cancellation (Coles-Walker unrecorded) on cover bearing pair EEF 5 m. yellow-orange, “NEBIK 29.11.919” cds. alongside (Coles-Walker no.107), on reverse transit mark PORT-SAID 3/DE/19, addressed to Denmark, tiny border crease, otherwise fine and a very attractive Syria forerunner.
