1857-61, 1c. blue, 10c. green horizontal pair, tied by Baltimore c.d.s. to 1861 mourning cover to the Hague, Holland, redirected to Baden Baden, Germany, black boxed “P.D.” and “Franco”, red New York exchnage c.d.s. (April 9) and black French entry c.d.s. (May), reverse with multiple backstamps including Valenciennes (5 May) and Gravenhage transit c.d.s., boxed German railway TPO, adhesives with some toned perfs, 10c pair with straight edge at right, else fine.

1857-61 1c. blue,Type V, tied to cover to Baden, Germany, by blue grid cancel, adjacent Louisville c.d.s., endorsed “Bremen”, struck with black "N. York Hamb. Pkt. 5” and  two strikes of blue “4½ Sgr / 6 Xr" exchange office markings, the latter denoting credit to the Hamburg and Thurn & Taxis Post Office for transit, blue handstamp “22”, backstamped with oval Hamburg (Jul 14, 1861), “Hamburg TH&T” (Jul 14) transit and boxed Munzingen datestamp, some light edge toning, opening tears to flap, a scarce and desirable transatlantic rate.

1857, 3c. dull red and 12c. black horizontal pairs, tied to cover to Baden, Germany, by red grid cancels, “N York Br. Pkt. 7 PAID” c.d.s. alongside (Nov 23), boxed  “AACHEN/FRANCO” overtop, endorsed “paid” and “per Steamer” at lower left,  with boxed German railway transit (Dec 7), Meersburg (Dec 9), and Salem (Dec 10) backstamps, the 3c pair with small flaws due to being affixed close to cover edge, a pleasing illustration of the 30c Prussian Closed Mail rate; with 1980 Friedl certificate.

1857, 12c. black, block of four and single, affixed to 1859 cover to Staufen, Baden (Germany), pen cancelled, the block tied by red Carrollton LA c.d.s. , further struck with red circular ‘N. York Am. Pkt 14 Paid” c.d.s. (Feb 12), boxed Aachen/Franco alongside, backstamped with German railway transit mark (Feb 28), some edge creasing, but a scarce franking; with 1977 Philatelic Foundation certificate.

Pk. / PAID / 12” (May 20) in red and “America / Uber Bremen / Franco” in blue, reverse with Frankfurt (Jun 4) and railway transit backstamps, trivial hole at lower left, else fine.

1863, 5c brown, and 10c green, faint grill, tied to c. 1868 cover to Carlsruhe, Germany, endorsed “Per Prussian Closed Mails”, postmarked Philadelphia (Sep 25), next-day “New York Paid All / BR Transit” in red, “Verviers. B. / 8.10.III. / Coeln / Franco” in red, reverse with Carlsruhe c.d.s. arrival backstamp (Oct 9), opening tear through back, else fine.

1861, 10c green and 1863 5c brown, on Eagle & Shield 1864 Civil War patriotic cover to Kirchhofen, Baden, Germany, each centrally-struck with black target cancel, postmarked Port Clinton, Ohio (Sep 28),  overstruck by red “N. York Hamb Pkt / 12” c.d.s. (Oct 1), reverse with oval Hamburg (Oct 17), Frankfurt (Oct 19) and Gr. Bad. Bahnpost c.d.s. (Oct 20), with contents from the Consul for Baden in Cincinnati, cover repaired at right, nevertheless a scarce transatlantic usage of a Union patriotic cover, with tremendous visual appeal.

1861-2 12c. black and 1863 2c. black, on cover to Baden, Germany, each cancelled in manuscript, neat Carrollton LA c.d.s. alongside, red “N York AM PKT 7 PAID” c.d.s. (Feb 9) and boxed blue AACHEN / FRANCO at top, backstamped with Heidelberg c.d.s. receiver, tear through back flap, else fine; with 1982 Philatelic Foundation certificate.

1862/3, 2c. black and 24c. greyish lilac, tied to 1867 cover to Baden, Germany by black fancy cork cancels, postmarked New Orleans (Jul 24), red New York transit (Jul 26) and blue boxed “AACHEN / FRANCO”, reverse with Heidelberg - Basel TPO transit (Aug 12), file fold crossing lower adhesive, small lower corner flaws, an otherwise fine and pleasing franking.

1863, 5c. brown, strip of three, pair, and single, perforated 12, affixed to 1867 cover to Baden, Germany, cancelled in pen, faint New York c.d.s. alongside, pair tied by blue “America / Uber Bremen / Franco” handstamp, clear red “N. York Brem. Pk. PAID / 24” c.d.s. (Dec 12) and red “2” (Silbergroschen) in manuscript, reverse with “R. Bad Bahnpost” (Dec 27) and “Heidelberg - Basel” (Dec 28) TPOs, Steinbach c.d.s. receiver (Dec 28), some flaws to franking particularly at upper left of strip, else a fine and visually-pleasing cover; signed Holcombe, with his 1995 certificate.

1869, 10c yellow tied by black cork cancel to 1870 cover to Stockach, Baden, Germany, postmarked Williamsburg (May 21), red “New York / Direct / Paid All” c.d.s. (May 24), adhesive further tied by red boxed “Hamburg / Franco” datestamp (June 7), reverse with Heidelberg-Basel TPO (Jun 8) and Stockach c.d.s. receiver (Jun 9), cover slightly reduced at top, else a lovely single franking; with 2002 Philatelic Foundation certificate.

(Cole’s) City Despatch Post, 1847, 2c. black on green, “C” at left hand etched on plate, large to very large margins, on folded letter from New York to Kenzingen, Germany, internally dated Williamsburgh, 16 June, 1850,  adhesive cancelled in pencil, effectively “tied” to cover through paper, postmarked New York (Jun 27), sender’s directive “per Havre”, corresponding red “Outre-Mer Le Havre” entry c.d.s. on front (Jul 28), reverse with “Ligne-Du-Havre / 1” (Jul 28) c.d.s. and boxed German railroad transit “E.B. 31 JUL 50 / Cur IV,” adhesive with scrapes and other faults, yet a rare cover, the only recorded example of this Post Office City Despatch sent to a destination outside the United States (“The City Despatch Post 1842-1852 Issues” by Scott R.Trepel, page 23); with 2000 Philatelic Foundation certificate.

½ Neugroschen auf mattgrau, voll- bis breitrandig, mit sauber aufgesetzter Nr. "3" und nebengesetztem Doppelkreisstempel "N.DRESDEN BAHNPOST=EXPED. 5½ Nachm. 26 APR 55" auf komplettem Faltbrief, datiert "New York 10th April 55", mit nebengesetztem Firmenstempel nach Bischofswerder. Ein interessanter 'forwarded'-Brief.

½ Neugroschen auf mattgrau, unten rechts minimal berührt, sonst voll- bis breitrandig, mit sauber auf- und nebengesetztem alten Taxis-Einkreisstempel "SCHMÖLLN 25/2" auf Briefhülle nach Altenburg. Eine recht seltene Entwertung.

R80c with R30c used on 1870 receipt, a fine group of transatlantic mail with scarce red postmark “24/9 Kr. R. AMERICA ÜBER BREMEN”, Blood´s One Cent Despatch, etc., some forgeries noted, mixed condition, an interesting lot in one album

Officials, Revenues, Locals and Confederate States, strength before the 1940s, with many duplicates, some large multiples and an abundance of eccllectic material, also a few questionable items. Some occasional faults as to be expected, mostly in good and fresh condition, neatly housed in three stockbooks

1847/1946 (ca), unused and used collection, incl. Officials, Newspaper and Post Offices in China, some better items like Scott-Nr. 85B unused (cert. PF), 101 unused without gum, light crease (cert. PF), 122 used (sign. Jakubek BPP), 262 unused (cert. PSE), Officials with some cpl. sets, Newspaper PR83 unused (cert. PF), together with a few covers, some regummed and reperforated noted. Mixed condition, a useful lot

1966/2016 Zusammenstellung postfrischer Viererblocks, bestehend aus einem Vorrat, bedeutender Teil der Dauerserie, postfrische Erhaltung, zusätzlich eine Auswahl neuerer Viererblocks, bemerkenswerte Abart von ungezähnten Viererblocks auf drei der Vogelserien Scott 4991-4995, ein Luxusstück.

1980/2016 komplette postfrische Sammlung von Coil-Ausgaben, präsentiert in einem großen Lindner-Band mit grünem Ledereinband, ungebraucht, viele seltener, dabei Scott 1891 mit den Druckformen 1, 3 und 6 in Fünferstreifen, sehr seltene Zusammenstellung.

1994/2016 extensive mint self adhesive collection, comprising four Leuchtturm black albums, presented on the pre-printed album pages, includes corner marginals, blocks, minisheets, strips, many scarcer, mint never hinged, vast array of extremely eye catching material.
